Encrypt a folder
When files belong together, one protected container is more practical than twenty separate ones. Loclavis bundles a folder locally and encrypts the result in a single operation.
The folder structure survives
Subfolders, order and filenames are all kept. When you decrypt, you get a ZIP archive back in which the original structure appears exactly as you put it in. You unpack it with whatever your operating system already provides.
No filename is left in the clear
Names and paths sit inside the encrypted region. Anyone who gets hold of the container sees its size and the algorithm parameters, but not what the files are called or even how many there are.
Memory stays calm even with many files
Loclavis reads the files one after another in sections and encrypts in the same pass. The whole folder is never loaded into memory at once. That holds for three files and for three thousand.
Limits we state openly
One container holds up to 65,535 files and just under 4 GB. If your selection is larger, Loclavis says so beforehand rather than halfway through. Single large files are not affected: those you can protect without this limit.
Several files and folders are part of Plus
On the free tier you protect single files, with unlimited decryption included. Several files in one operation and whole folders are part of Loclavis Plus at 5.99 euro per year. The encryption itself is identical in both tiers.
