Free and Plus use the same strong encryption
Plus sells convenience and unlimited use, not better security. There is no weakened encryption for people who do not pay. Both tiers use AES-256-GCM with Argon2id, with identical parameters.

Billing
Plus is a yearly subscription. It renews automatically until you cancel. Payment and management run through Stripe. Payment method, invoices and cancellation live in the Stripe customer portal.
Decryption always stays free
Even when your allowance is used up or a subscription ends, files you protected with Loclavis can always be opened again. There is no lock in front of your own data.
Questions about the tiers
Is Free a trial?
No. Free stays usable and uses the same encryption as Plus. The only limit is how many protect operations you get per month.
What happens when my monthly allowance is used up?
You can still decrypt without any limit. New protect operations are available again in the next calendar month, or immediately with Plus.
Can I cancel Plus?
Yes. Plus is a yearly subscription managed through the Stripe customer portal, where you can cancel it at any time with effect from the end of the term.
Do I need an account for Plus?
No. After the purchase you get a Plus key that you can activate again on any device. There is no sign up and no login.
